NANDINI DIWAS 2009 was celebrated at many places of the country. Discussions on late Smt. Nandini Satpathy and possible paths for achieving complete empowerment of rural Indian women were conducted. June 9, 2009 commemorated the second anniversary of Project Nandini- the social cause project which works for the development of semi urban & rural women of India. In the year 2009 this project moved into its third out of four phases- ‘Nandini’ is a senior citizen’. The said project is an initiative of SNSMT.

This day also commemorated the 78^th birth anniversary of legendary late Smt.Nandini Satpathy.

To commemorate the day SNSMT organized a get together of a few noted social activists, economists, political grass root workers, elected women representatives and the intelligentsia of Orissa albeit India. The Chairman of SNSMT Shri.Suparno Satpathy addressed the august gathering. The evening witnessed a presentation on the achievements of SNSMT in year 2008-09. Projections of SNSMT for the year 2009-10 were shared by its managing committee.

It was unanimously agreed upon that SNSMT in the year 2009-10 will support the grass root change makers with all possible means & measures. Also that SNSMT will focus on the poverty struck tribal women & youth of rural Orissa.
