June 9, national daughters' day NANDINI DIWAS-2013

This year the eve of national daughters' day Nandini Diwas'13 was organized at IMA auditorium, Bhubaneswar on June 8 '2013. For the said, veteran trade union leader, ex-union cabinet minister, ex- member of parliament Her Excellency Smt. Margaret Alva the current day Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan had been invited as the Chief Guest to deliver the 7th Smt.Nandini Satpathy Memorial Lecture. The President-elect of IMA Bhubaneswar Dr. Rajendra Satpathy and Shri. Suparno Satpathy, Hon'ble Chairman of SNSMT both had been invited to grace the occasion as the Guests of Honor.

June 9, Nandini Diwas was celebrated in many parts of India- New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Hydrabad, Bangalore etc. The same was also celebrated in the district & block head quarters of Odisha. Like Bhubaneswar, Khorda, Cuttack, Baripada, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Angul, Barhampur, Bhuban, Kamakhya Nagar, Kaniha etc etc..

This day commemorated the 6th anniversary of Project Nandini- the social cause project which works for the development of semi urban & rural women of India. This day also commemorated the 82nd birth anniversary of legendary late Smt.Nandini Satpathy.

The eve of Nandini Diwas '13 witnessed presentation of two Nandini Puraskar -13. The said is presented each year by SNSMT to two women of substance with exemplar in their respective fields. Each year the SNSMT puraskar selection committee chooses deserving candidates for this prestigious award. This year (2013) the award was decorated by Her Excellency Smt. Margaret Alva Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan along with Shri. Suparno Satpathy, Hon’ble Chairman of SNSMT.

Smt. Jagi Mangat Panda and Smt. Nayana Patra were decorated with the prestigious Nandini Puraskar '2013 for excellence in entrepreneurship /activism and for excellence in social activism respectively.
